The Lil Wayne “Flat Out, I Don’t Like New York” comment left allot of NYC people feeling salty.
It even inspired a diss record from the homie Donny Goines, and Fabolous even made it the topic of his chorus to his latest release “So NY.”
The half-cocked remark even provoked a response from Queens State Senator Malcolm Smith.
The King T.I. in an interview with Hot97 said that people were taking what Weezy said too literally.
T.I. told Angie Martinez:
“When I first came in the game, it was a feat for a Southern artist, let alone an Atlanta artist, to make his way up to Hot 97 and get himself mix show play, let alone…heavy rotation”
“You gotta understand where a man coming from, I’m not saying I support anyone not liking New York. What I’m saying is, people who haven’t gone through that process of having their freedom taken from you…you have to take all this into consideration.”
“I don’t think he meant nothin’ by it. I don’t think he meant any disrespect”
I think most people have already forgotten about this, but I do believe his statement was taken out of context.
