There’s no stopping with LEGO as new ingenious ways of using the playful bricks are being thought up. The possibilities are endless. Celebrating 50 years in Australia with their Festival of Play, LEGO have various installations across the country and this is the most recent set up in the rural town of Broken Hill of New South Wales. A life-sized LEGO forest consisting of 15 four-meter ‘pine’ trees and flower sets have been recreated to a 1:1 ratio of the original pieces, but supersized to be 66 times bigger. The forest rising from the red soil creates a colourful contrast against the vibrant landscape, a breathtaking sight and a giant playground. This installation is on until July 12.

Readers of Sneaker Freaker outside Australia won’t recognise this rubber-toed canvas rambler, but for anyone living Downunder, the Volley is a compulsory part of childhood. With millions of pairs sold over the years, it’s the antipodean equivalent to the Chuck Taylor, and the Volley’s unique utilitarian style makes it practical for almost anything that invites a lightweight, grippy sneaker. All of which makes it the perfect candidate for lacing the Australian Olympic team in London. With laser-etched tongue tags, gold-medal branding and wattle-green laces offset by an antique white canvas upper, this is one patriotic Volley. Unfortunately they will only be available to athletes, so they’re unlikely to make it onto the collector market… but you never know.

I’ve also had the chance to answer the question that has been on the minds of Aussie Hip Hop fans for years; Yes, QN5 does get busy!
Going through the crazy ordeals with customs agents, visas, lost bags of merch, flat tires and more, was all well worth it to experience the love that I’ve been shown from Adelaide thus far. The crowd at the Rhino Room gave me some of the most energy I’ve seen in years and got me pumped up for the next couple of shows to come. – PackFM
